Suresh Kalmadi claims he suffers from dementia and loss of memory. He also petitions the court to be allowed to attend the parliament.
This comes three weeks after the famous samosa and chocolate cake party at the Tihar jail whose aftermath is reported here by IBN:
“Found former OC chief Suresh Kalmadi having tea and snacks with the jail superitendant at Jail No. 4 where he is lodged. This happened on 30th June,” said Tihar Jail DIG Prisons RN Sharma.
Nearly a week after reports of several VIP inmates including former OC chief Suresh Kalmadi enjoying special privileges in the Capital’s Tihar jail, three officials have been suspended.
According to the judge, it wasn’t only Kalmadi who was found enjoying special privileges. Others like Vikas Yadav and Vishal Yadav, who are serving a life term for the murder of Nitish Katara, were seen strolling in the jail garden when they should have been locked inside their cells.
An enquiry conducted by the vigilance cell of the Tihar Jail found several people guilty. Three jail officials including two assistant superintendents and a head warden have been suspended and disciplinary action recommended against the Jail Superintendent, who has already been transferred to Port Blair.

The investigators had nothing against him, and it is not clear that any agency is building a serious case against him on charges of corruption during the run-up to the Delhi commonwealth games.
