How many people die every year of a tree falling on them?

The answer is 3 in Mumbai, and another 5 badly injured. News from TOI:

[December 27] In the sixth such incident this year in the city, a 38-year-old businessman from Andheri died and another man was injured when a branch of a tree fell on them on Paliram Road, Andheri (West), on Monday afternoon.

Businessman Nikhil Kamdar was visiting the local ward office along with his brother to pay civic taxes and was waiting outside when tSept 8: 24-yr-old Priyanka Doongarshi suffered head injuries when a gulmohar tree near Hanging Gardens crashed down on her home

Sept 7: The driver of a Tata Sumo died when an old jamun tree fell on the vehicle on P D’Mello Road

Sept 4: Aslam Shaikh was killed after a branch of a banyan tree fell on him, once again on P D’Mello Road

July 24: St Xavier’s College student Antara Telang lost her leg when a branch of a peepal tree in Sion came crashing down on her

June 18: A jamun tree branch fractured Kandivli resident Tamanna Bhojani’s spine he branch of a 25-year-old tamarind tree inside an agiary gave way. Kamdar was crushed on the spot and another passerby, Nawab Sheikh (19), was injured.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which lacks guidelines for a systematic trimming of overgrown trees and penalizing land owners who allow trees to grow untrimmed on their land, has come under heavy criticism because of a spate of tree accidents in the city in the monsoon.
